I was born in Redwood City, California and lived in California for the first 5 years of my life. Most of my childhood was spent in Charlottesville, VA. I attended Western Albemarle High School in Crozet, Virginia where I played basketball and baseball. I went to college at the University of Virginia where I studied Systems Engineering. I am a huge ACC and UVA sports fan. After college I earned my Master's degree in Industrial Engineering right here in Evanston at Northwestern University. I got a job as a consultant with a software company called i2 Technologies. At i2, I helped various companies use software to statistically forecast customer demand for their products. It was a fun and interesting job, but something was calling me to be a teacher. I spent 2 years at DePaul University completing my teaching certification. Now I am honored to be in my ninth year teaching at Evanston Township High School.
I also coach baseball at ETHS. I am very excited about the future of the Evanston baseball program.
A huge part of my life has been spent at Camp Highlands in Sayner, Wisconsin. I grew up at the camp and am now part owner and one of the directors. Camp Highlands is the oldest camp in the Midwest and has been in operation since 1904. I look forward to learning about you, my students, this year. I am excited to help you succeed not only inside the classroom but outside as well.
Sincerely,
Mr. Freeland
